Ankur Kumar is leaving or forced to leave the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania. MBA applications has been declining in the recent years - probably the reason for Kumar's resign. In fact, campus leaders seem to have questioned Kumar's marketing strategy and whether the Wharton has distinguished itself sufficiently from others. 

This incident provides another signal that competition among business schools becomes tougher and may result in stronger efforts for differentiation or alternative offers such as flexible one-year MBA programs.
